As school counselors in the state of Utah, we are required to hold a master’s degree or higher in school counseling from an accredited institution and hold a Professional Educator License from the Utah State Board of Education with a School Counselor Area of Concentration. In short, we are specially trained and licensed professionals with the goal, “to provide every student with the assistance and guidance to effectively identify, select, plan, and prepare for a career of choice, while giving each student the encouragement to achieve the goals which will enable him or her to have increased confidence when embarking on a career and/or entering the workplace.” -Utah Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Vision.
The way we accomplish this is through a variety of lessons, activities, and interventions including but not limited to:

- Classroom Lessons via Keys to Success Curriculum
