Our counseling department is proud to partner with YouScience to provide our students with a personalized roadmap to their post-secondary futures. Unlike traditional interest surveys that rely solely on what students think they know about themselves, YouScience uses performance-based “brain games” to uncover a student’s natural aptitudes—their innate talents in areas like spatial reasoning, inductive logic, numerical computation, and structural visualization. By combining these objective aptitude measurements with personal interest surveys, YouScience expands students’ horizons and connects them directly with thousands of real-world careers, post-secondary education options, and local industry paths that align with how their minds naturally process information.
Students engage with the platform through interactive series of brain games designed to feel like engaging puzzles rather than tests. Once completed, students receive a comprehensive, 40-page profile that highlights their unique strengths, working styles, and ideal work environments. They can explore a tailored database of career paths, complete with job growth projections, salary expectations, and required education degrees or certifications. Our counselors work directly alongside students to use these results when choosing high school electives, setting up 4-year academic plans, and selecting CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathways, making high school course selections purposeful and directly connected to long-term goals.
The impact of YouScience extends far beyond simple career exploration. Research and student feedback consistently show that discovering their aptitudes boosts students’ confidence, reduces anxiety around “what comes after graduation,” and helps dismantle self-imposed biases or stereotypes regarding which careers they can pursue
